From as early as I can remember I loved cameras. More than once my parents were shocked after I borrowed their Olympus point-and-shoot to “take one photo,” but returned with a fully exposed roll. I liked the way the film captured the feeling of moments I couldn’t experience again. I liked learning to see.

I’m a photographer born and based in Carbondale, Colorado. While looking at my surroundings I feel insatiably curious about how I can find stories within this landscape and build connection for communal well-being. When in college, I was torn between film and ecology so I designed my own major I called Ecological Journalism and Media. My background in ecology has shaped how I see stories, no matter what the subject. Just like an ecosystem and its inhabitants, I see all parts of a story as an interconnected web. In this way I have continued to examine the relationship between humans and their environment, regardless of if it is built or natural.

Although I’ve learned to be quick on my feet, I enjoy meandering more than reaching the end point. This balance allows me to capture the subtlety I see in the world, which I usually seek in Colorado’s strong light, dramatic landscapes, and wide range of inhabitants. Connection to nature, family ties, and shifting ecosystems have emerged as common themes in my work as I embrace the complexity, beauty, and allure of my ever-changing surroundings.
